The Black Keys Release A Song With RZA

October 13, 2012

Earlier this week, Fuse reported that The Black Keys released a song featuring RZA called “The Baddest Man Alive.” The song can be heard on the music player on the same article.

This song will be part of the soundtrack for the new kung fu movie “The Man With The Iron Fists,” which is written and directed by RZA.  The soundtrack features more artists like Kanye West, Corinne Bailey Rae and many more.

Here’s a quick review of “The Baddest Man Alive,” it takes the blues rock feel that The Black Keys have been known to write its songs with, and blends it with the hip-hop styling’s that made people like RZA when the Wu-Tang Clan first came around

The song stars out with a slow guitar riff and is layered with what sounds like a flute. It’s an odd thing to think of at first, but they work well together, and the flute sound makes the song feel like it belongs in a kung fu movie.

The only real “flaw” with the song is the transition into RZA’s rap. It’s a very quick transition and it takes a few seconds to get used to during a first listen. After realizing that transition, the rap is easy to get into.

In 2009, The Black Keys released an album called Blakroc, an album they wrote in collaboration with several hip-hop artists. “The Baddest Man Alive” sounds like it could fit with that album well.
