Patrick Carney says something about Bieber, Twitter updates are made.

February 16, 2013

This is possibly one of the only times you will see Justin Bieber’s name on this blog, but this story was too funny not to pass up. No seriously, this story has been one of the more covered music stories this week.

In case you didn’t hear, Consequence of Sound reported that Bieber said on Twitter that The Black Keys drummer, Patrick Carney “needs to be slapped around haha.”

What caused this reaction? Well, TMZ reported that Carney said that the Grammy’s are for music and not money, and that he should be happy. If that alone doesn’t make this silly enough, Carney made a response on Twitter (reported by Spin). Keep in mind that this is after the band won three Grammys (Business Week).Image

This isn’t the first time that the outspoken drummer has said something about financially successful top 40 acts. Last year, Rolling Stone reported that the drummer said “Rock & roll is dying because people became OK with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world, so they became OK with the idea that the biggest rock band in the world is always going to be s***.” And that prompted a Twitter response by Nickelback (reported by Stereogum).

Rock question of the week:

What’s one of your favorite feuds in rock and the rest of the music world? We’ll extend this to rock prank wars as well.

UPDATE: Carney changed his Twitter name to Justin Bieber 2.0. So that’s something.
